This is ChoiceBox’s current state of privacy assurances. This page is subject to change without notice until user registration is active, at which point a notification policy will be posted here and obeyed.

What we collect

Email and story ideas.

If you join the waitlist or generate a story idea with the "Meet ChoiceBox" demo and choose to sign up, we store the email address and the idea/topic you gave us.

Tip	You may request your content or email be deleted at any time; just contact us at mailto:choicebox@pm.me and ask. (This feature will be automated shortly.)

Gameplay state

While you’re playing a demo, we keep track of your progress (which scene you’re on, any answers you’ve typed) so the story works. This is tied to your browser session, not to you personally, even if you’ve also given us an email.

That’s it. We do not run analytics trackers, we don’t build ad profiles, and we don’t ask for anything beyond what’s listed above.

To let you know when ChoiceBox is ready for wider use.
To follow up on story ideas people want to see built.
To improve the demos themselves.

Who else sees your activity?

We use a small number of outside services to run ChoiceBox. Each only sees what it needs to do its job:

Groq: (No relation to Musk’s Grok!) Processes the text you type and the story’s own text, in some cases, in order to generate or improve responses. This happens for every turn you play that has AI enhancement. Groq does not see your personally identifying information (email, IP address, etc.) — only the text you type into certain fields, and the text its AI models generate in return.
Railway: Hosts our REST server and databases. Railway sees no personally identifying information on requests, but it hosts the database in which we may store personally identifying information.
Vercel: Hosts this website. They see your IP address and the pages you visit, but not your email address or story ideas.

None of these companies is allowed to use your data for their own purposes; they process it only to provide the service to us.

How long we keep it, and how to have it removed

Gameplay state is temporary. If you don’t come back to a session, nothing further happens to it.
We may keep aggregate, anonymized usage data indefinitely to help improve the experience.
If you’ve given us an email address, you can ask us to delete it (and anything tied to it) at any time; just contact us at mailto:choicebox@pm.me and we’ll delete anything associated with your identifying info.

Age

ChoiceBox isn’t intended for anyone under 14 years old. By using this site or submitting your email, you’re confirming you are 14 or older.

Terms used above

capture: A piece of information you explicitly submit (an email, a story idea) that we store past your current session.
session: The temporary record of where you are in a demo story, cleared out over time if you don’t return to it.
sub-processor: An outside company that handles data on our behalf, under our instruction, not their own.
